Dear Aroma Friends,

Aromatherapy essential oils have been used for centuries: their qualities and methods of use have been passed from mother to daughter through the centuries. Today we are learning that essential oils or "aromatherapy" is an exact and highly specialized science.

Many Different Essential Oils

The use of "nature's miracles in bottles" can appear very confusing, as there are so many different oils. One must make a concerted effort to understand the natural chemical makeup of the plant in order to relate them to our physical, emotional and mental ailments. What must also be understood is that essential oils do not build up in the body and cause toxic effects the way pharmacetical drugs do.

Essential Oils on a Molecular Level

The molecular structure of essential oils is so minute that the molecules actually penetrate the skin and distribute themselves into the booldstream in order to travel to the parts of the body that require them. Scientists have tagged these molecules with radioactive isotopes to enable them to watch where they go once they are inhaled or applied to the skin. What they found was amazing. The molecules wandered through the body, did what they had to do and then left the body via sweat, urine or feces. To test this, try peppermint essential oil on the souls of your feet and shortly you will taste it in your mouth. Amazing, but true!

Aromatherapy Blends

At Green Valley Aromatherapy, most of our aromatherapy blends of pure essential oils have a unique story behind them. They have been developed to help individuals deal with their mental, emotional or physical problems in a natural, efficient way.

Our "Terminator" essential oil blend was developed when a woman from the United States contacted Green Valley Aromatherapy because her immune system was compromised. Some of the essential oils we used for the blend came from an 18th century recipe that was known as the "Thieves Blend". In those days, as physicians started to realize the importance of anatomy, the need for human skeletons created "grave robbers". The grave robbers, in an effort to protect themselves from whatever nasty diseases the recently deceased individuals gave in to, covered themselves in essential oils that we now know to be antiviral and antibiotoc. Our Terminator blend is made of camphor essential oil, cinnamon essential oil, nutmeg essential oil, lavender essential oil, rosemaryessential oil and sage essential oil.
