Aromatherapy & Love

Romance is in the air! Literally it is in the air when you diffuse essential oils, more specifically romantic, aphrodisiac essential oils.
According to some, Valentine’s Day is named for a priest, Valentine, who served in the 3rd century in Rome. Emperor Claudius ll decided that single men made better soldiers than married ones with families, so he banned marriage to all potential soldiers. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the ban, defied Claudius and continued to marry young lovers in secret. He was eventually discovered and Claudius ordered him put to death. It is unlikely that St. Valentine could have predicted that his acts of kindness would develop into one of the most celebrated days of the year, especially for chocolate, lingerie and card manufacturers.

Essential Oil Gift for a Romantic Valentine”s Day

Essential oils make a great valentine gift for either men or women. Paired with a romantic evening at home or away and you have the perfect combination for relaxation and love. Imagine the setting – a candle light dinner, a small bowl of hot water with five drops of your chosen essential oil in it creating a romantic atmosphere, appropriate background music… who knows where it might lead.

Rose Essential Oil and Rose Hydrosol

Roses have been connected with romance for centuries, which is why Valentine’s Day is the florists’ busiest day of the year. An early East Indian tradition at weddings was to throw rose petals over the couple and to cover the bed with fresh rose petals. It was believed that the rose petals would reduce anxiety and create a romantic atmosphere.

Rose essential oil is known as a women’s oil. It has a powerful effect on the uterus – it is cleansing, regulating and tonic, and is valuable where there is a loss of uterine muscle tone. It is thought to aid conception and appears to increase the production of semen.

Rose hydrosol is a pleasant alternative to rose essential oil. It has the same properties but is less concentrated and can be used safely on the skin.

This Valentine’s Day, introduce essential oils and aromatherapy into the bedroom and romance the night away with the benefits and aroma of essential oils.
