Hi Everyone,
Welcome to Spring! At least it is here on the west coast, and it sure is welcome. Thank-you for
all your emails about our February newsletter and especially the ones about
Montmorency, the polydactyl kitten with his 22 and a half toes. Because the half toe does not work and gets caught up, he had it removed when he was fixed. I have heard that people are actually
selling these cats on the internet - the more toes the more they cost. What will
they be selling next?
The internet is a
wonderful tool when it is used for the good of all. It has been very good for
Green Valley Aromatherapy. When I started this company I had no computer skills at all, only aromatherapy skills. I needed to acquire good quality, pure essential oils
and I needed a way to sell them. It was just a pure fluke that in 1995 someone suggested I get a
website and everything just fell into place like it was meant to
be.
We now in the process of redesigning our website to keep up with the times, to make it more user friendly and
to make it easier for you to get information, recipes, contraindications or
uses of a particular oil. Emma, who has been with me for many years, has been showing me how wonderful modern
technology can be.
Children, of
course, are very technologically literate; it is part of their world. My 3 year old
granddaughter uses the computer - she puts on her own programs and plays all the
games. Our eldest grandchild is 6 years old. In 10 years they will all be
getting into the wonderful teenage years - I had better start stock
piling the essential oils for me and for them!
Communication and
essential oils are what I recommend for these hormonal changes that can create
huge mood swings, skin eruptions, hair problems and sometimes depression. Try
arranging a mini spa night in a quiet room, no TV, just some nice background
music, while you are doing a foot, back or hand massage. My sons loved the
back massage. I found that when I was doing regular aromatherapy massages
people would open up and confide some of their problems. I think that this was facilitated by the lack of eye contact and a non threatening environment. Hopefully your
troubled teens will do the same thing. Remember, never assume what they are
thinking. Assume = assuming makes an ASS of U and ME.
Aromatically yours,
Barb Greenwood, RMT, RA
