Using essential oils to assist with pregnancy, labour and delivery

Using pure essential oils during pregnancy, labour and delivery can make the experience more enjoyable, less stressful and easier.

Using essential oils during the first trimester of your pregnancy is not recommended, particularly if you have had a miscarriage in the past. Some essential oils are uterine stimulants and can start early labour.

In the second and third trimester of pregnancy there are a number of beneficial essential oils which can be used, including:

  1. Bergamot essential oil
  2. Chamomile essential oil
  3. Frankincense essential oil
  4. Ginger essential oil
  5. Grapefruit essential oil
  6. Lavender essential oil
  7. Lemon essential oil
  8. Mandarin essential oil
  9. Neroli essential oil
  10. Orange essential oil
  11. Patchouli essential oil
  12. Petitgrain essential oil
  13. Rose essential oil
  14. Sandalwood essential oil
  15. Ylang Ylang essential oil

Hydrosols are great for freshening up at any time during your pregnancy and especially during hard labour.
