Head Lice and Essential Oils

Treating head lice is not an easy task, and the treatment options found on supermarket shelves are almost always full of nasty toxins and expensive. The good news it that there are a few aromas these pesky critters seem to dislike, tea tree and lavender being among them.

To deter head lice add a few drops of either Lavender Essential Oil or Tea Tree Essential Oil (or both), to your normal shampoo bottle (one drop per ml), and either shake/stir or roll your shampoo bottle to blend together. If you purchase the large litre size bottles, simply add a drop (or two) of each or either of these two essential oils to the amount as you apply to your hair.

If they have already made their home on your head… ugh …. massage  Shea Butter into your scalp and hair, leave for twenty minutes, rinse and shampoo, and then comb through your hair whilst damp to extract lice and eggs. Launder bedding, coats and hats, and repeat this process three days later.
